Who represents India?

This is with reference to the article ‘Who speaks for India – Gandhi or Modi?’ by Aijaz Zaka Syed (July 6). The writer says, “It may be time for those silent multitudes to speak up and speak out against the rape of justice and rule of law that is going on in Narendra Modi’s Gujarat.” I don’t think the vast majority of Gujarati Hindus will ever by sympathetic to the Muslims. All Gujarati Hindus I recently met in Singapore and Malaysia think there is no difference between Indian and Pakistani Muslims.
In fact, I believe that Modi is so popular among Hindu fundamentalists, and even moderate Indians, that he may well be elected prime minister in the future.
