After inappropriately admitting to an ‘inappropriate
relationship’ with Monica Lewinsky, Mr Clinton thought it appropriate to divert
attention from his failings and ordered the launching of missiles to destroy terrorist
camps in Afghanistan and a chemical-weapons factory in Sudan.
It has now turned out that the factory was actually
a pharmaceutical unit and it may have been bombed in error owing to the CIA’s inappropriate
intelligence-gathering procedures.
Be that as it may, but what if one of the missiles
had crashed into a densely populated area in Pakistan on its way to the targets,
or if it had knocked down a civilian plane in the air? Would the US blame the missiles
as being inappropriately manufactured?
