The ‘whites’ are a strange species

Sir: First it was the rich Germans who asked their government to tax them heavily to improve their country’s economy. Now the wealthy Americans have suggested the same thing to their government. What is going on? Why are they not like our feudal lords, who react violently whenever there is a proposal to tax agricultural income? There is something definitely strange about white people. But maybe that is why they were able to rule over most of the world for so long.
