I'm now convinced that most Pakistanis are end-products of generations of inbreeding. Most Pakistanis marry their first cousins, and if this goes on for three or four generations, the descendants are likely to suffer from many diseases, particularly deafness and night blindness, as well as having low intelligence. In fact, it's highly probable that chimpanzees and gorillas are more intelligent than most Pakistanis I have the misfortune of knowing.
On the occasion of the last Eid-al-Fitr (seventy days ago), the moon-sighters deliberately announced the sighting of the moon a day earlier, as they didn't want a disaster happening in the country, if Eid fell a day later (which happened to be a Friday). This was said to have been done at the behest of that superstitious lady who unfortunately happens to be the third wife of that moron who happens to be the selected prime minister of this benighted country. Apparently there have been occasions when disasters like the murder of the first prime minister occurred when an Eid fell on Friday.
Now they did it again. There is a belief, again among highly superstitious people, that the tenth of Muharram should be on the same day as was the previous Eid-al-Fitr. There is also the belief that it should not fall on a Friday, as that would increase the likelihood of the world ending on that day. So, they deliberated many hours and finally announced that the moon had been sighted to enable the tenth of Muharram (Ashura) to fall on Thursday (which was also the day of the previous Eid-al-Fitr).
This thing has been going on ever since I was a boy of five, and perhaps even before. Mullahs in a mosque in Peshawer routinely announce the sighting of the moon even when there is no chance of its appearance. There is of course a solution to the problem: formulate a lunar calendar, as many Muslim countries have done. But for the idiots who decide such matters, this would mean using science, which is a western thing.
But the biggest proof of the fudging is that in UAE the Islamic date is the same today as it is in Pakistan. This has never happened in living memory, and the probability of its happening is more than a million to one.
