Sir:
According to a news item, only Rs. 4 billion are collected every year from
property deals amounting to Rs. 7000 billion. This only proves the scale of tax
evasion in the property sector. This amount probably does not include the
thousands of property transactions in Karachi's Bahria Town, which reportedly
has yet to be registered with the government for tax to be recovered. The tax
authorities should investigate.
