Sir: I have noticed that most young women in the flood-hit areas are pregnant or have given birth after the floods uprooted them from their lands. It is common to find older women among them who have ten grown-up children (one woman even has 14). If nothing else, this proves that the masses now have access to modern medicines and healthcare, since not very long ago, a third of all infants used to die before the age of two. At least something seems to be working in this benighted country!
