The so-called Mr. Clean used to be very emphatic on one point: the gifts our politicians get from other states should be declared, as they belong to the state of Pakistan. But now that the shoe is on the other foot, he refuses to even talk about the gifts he's received from the Saudis and others. Even the Islamabad High Court has asked the government to inform the nation details of gifts the prime minister and his cronies have received. But it appears that Imran has done something which, if known to the public, would deeply embarrass him.

Naturally, due to all this unnecessary secrecy, there are many rumors about why Imran is so obstinate on this issue. One story doing the rounds is that a prince gave him a very expensive watch which he has sold without declaring its value.

I can't say whether it's true or not. The expensive watch (said to be worth twenty crores or two hundred million rupees) was one of two especially made for the prince, and he reportedly gifted one to Imran Khan. As would happen when a man is deeply indebted to his wife, he gave it to her, considering that it was a small price to pay for what she's done for him (including of course influencing the jinns to help him remain in power). But then, she gave it to someone (reports say it was her ex-husband, who still exercises a lot of control on those who matter in the country). He probably told someone to sell it for him, and it may well have been sold for a fraction of its worth. But according to the rumors the prince got to hear of it and didn't like it.

And that is why, according to the rumors, IK is reluctant to disclose details of the gifts he's received from foreign heads of state and others. I would like to emphasize here that the rumors are not verified and the story could well be untrue. But then, as they say, there is no smoke without fire.
