I say potato, you say…
This is with reference to the letter, ‘Price of
potatoes’, by Engr Syed Zia Hussain (November 21). I cannot understand why the
price of potatoes in Lahore should be so high, unless it's due to one of those
heinous conspiracies one hears so much about.
I went and bought potatoes for Rs50 per kg in the posh DHA area of Karachi, so I'm sure in other localities of the city potatoes must be selling for Rs40-45 per kg. Perhaps the vendor in Lahore wants to emulate our feudal lords who think nothing of sucking the blood of poor people to enrich themselves.
