Corruptistan

This is with reference to your editorial ‘Broken promises’ (April 22). You are spot on when you say “corrupt candidates will be voted in and become corrupt lawmakers once more”. Considering that not a single loan-defaulter, tax-evader or electricity thief has been disqualified by those who were more concerned with the length of a candidate’s beard than their moral standing, it is futile hoping for miracles.

So, without further delay, let’s make it mandatory for all future candidates to be highly corrupt; let’s remove Articles 62 and 63 from the constitution and let’s rename the country ‘Corruptistan’.
