Justice for Shahzaib

This is with reference to your editorial ‘For justice’ (January 12). For far too long have we been subjected to the arrogance of these feudal lords. They drive at reckless speed on the roads, and since their cars have circular metal plates affixed to the number plates, the police think that they are members of the national or provincial assemblies and are therefore immune from arrest. Sometimes, they cause serious damage to other vehicles but the victims don’t complain because they know that the violators can’t be arrested.

A general perception is that the killers of Shahzeb are being hunted because he was the son of a serving police officer. Had the victim been an ordinary man, the incident would have been forgotten in a week or so.
