Privileges of a cultivator

THIS is apropos of your editorial ‘A Qadir googly’ (Feb 23). The feudal agricultural land owner enjoys an undue advantage over other Pakistanis.
If an ordinary Pakistani wants to buy a property, he would have to explain his source of income, which would need to be verified by the income tax authorities.
If, for instance, a person earns Rs50,000 a month, he cannot suddenly buy a five-million-rupee plot or a 15-million-rupee vehicle, saying that he found the money in the garbage heap outside his house.
