KARACHI: I have extensively read about the life and times of the Quaid, and it is distressing to hear from some people that Ruttie Jinnah (the Quaid’s wife) was renamed Maryam after her marriage and conversion. This is not true. And some people, for reasons best known to themselves, are trying to distort the facts by saying that Ruttie “preferred to leave him (Jinnah)”. This is a gross misrepresentation of the truth. I suggest that in order to pre-empt more such attempts to falsify history, every letter or article that is written about the Quaid should first be perused by experts on the subject.
