This is with reference to a top Saudi cleric's declaration that it is permissible to kill owners of satellite TV stations which show "immoral" programs. Without going into the definition of "immoral" or "obscene" (what is immoral in my opinion may be perfectly acceptable to my brother), why do our scholars recommend killing those who they think are spreading immorality? Recently two members of a minority group in Pakistan were killed after a couple of clerics declared that it was permissible to kill people belonging to that community. As for the other fatwa (the one which recommends that Mickey Mouse be killed) apparently the cleric believes that Mickey Mouse is a physical entity and can actually be killed. Such declarations only reinforce the impression in the minds of non-Muslims that we are a violent people who do not hesitate to kill without any reason.
